Plantae Organic Skincare: Review

I’m so happy winter is almost here! Felt amazing waking up to a hazy morning ❤

Skincare is something I take very seriously. I follow different skincare routines for summer and winter because your skin reacts and feels differently when the season changes and it is important to give the necessary care for your skin to keep it balanced.

Summer or winter – Cleansing and toning are two important steps of my skincare routine and I cannot skip these before I put anything else on my skin. I have dry-combination skin which makes it all the more tricky to choose the right products. Too much oil can make my skin look oily and too little will give way to dry patches.

I started using Plantae products earlier this year as you would already know from my previous review on their products. I have recently been using two more products from their Lush Leaves Collection – Wild Thyme Toner and Ivy Cleansing Gel.

Ivy Cleansing Gel:

“This kind, purifying wash contains Ivy Botanical Complex with extracts of Lemon and Burdock Root to regulate sebum and prevent acne, while maintaining pH to protect the delicate acid mantle of the skin.”

Ingredients:

Lavandula Angustifolia Flower Water, Glycerin, Caprylyl, Capryl Glucoside, Aqua, Nasturtium Officinale Extract, Citrus Medica Limonum Fruit Extract, Arctium Lappa Root Extract, Salvia Officinalis Leaf Extract, Hedera Helix Extract, Saponaria Officinalis Extract, Citric Acid, Sodium Benzoate, Potassium Sorbate, Quillaja Saponaria Wood Extract, Mel, Carrageenan, Benzyl Alcohol, Dehydroacetic Acid, Leptospermum Petersonii Oil, Totarol.

The product comes in their classic white and green bottle which looks very elegant. The pump nozzle makes it very easy to dispense the required amount of product, plus there’s no mess!

Every Plantae product comes with the expiry date printed on the bottle, which is super cool! Many natural skincare brands don’t do this and it makes it very difficult to know when to stop using the products.

The cleansing gel itself is a golden colored soft gel that foams slightly when massaged on damp skin. It works well in removing everyday light makeup. However if you use heavy makeup, you might wanna use this as a second cleanser. Carol Priest, the founder of Plantae recommends using Bergamot Orange Cleansing Milk to remove make-up, then follow with the Ivy Cleansing Gel and Wild Thyme Toner. This is a gentle everyday cleanser and doesn’t dry out the skin at all. Though the product is for oily skin, it worked great for my combination skin as well. A little goes a long way, so this bottle (100g) will last you a long time.

This product is free from: Parabens, Phenoxyethanol, Mineral Oils, PEGs, GMOs, SLS, Artificial Colours and Synthetic Fragrances.

Wild Thyme Toner:

“Complete the cleansing process with our refining toning mist. Contains therapeutic New Zealand Wild Thyme Honey for its soothing, demulcent properties, with astringent and anti-inflammatory Lemon Balm, Burdock Root and Watercress to clarify the skin, tighten pores and minimise blackheads.”

Ingredients:

Water (Aqua), Lavendula Angustifolia (Lavender) Flower Water, Honey, Glycerine, Nasturtium Officinale Extract, Arctium Lapa Root Extract, Salvia Officinalis (Sage) Leaf Extract, Citrus Medica Limonum (Lemon) Fruit Extract, Hedera Helix (Ivy) Extract, Saponaria Officinalis Extract Caprylyl, Capryl Glucoside, Dehydroacetic Acid, Benzyl Alcohol, Glycerin, Leptospermum Petersonii (Lemon Tea Tree) Oil, Carrageenan, Thymus Vulgaris (Thyme) Oil, Melissa Officinalis Leaf Oil

This is great for removing the last traces of makeup and dirt left on your skin after cleansing. Personally I hate swiping cotton pad on the face, it’s just a waste of cotton and dragging your skin (no matter how gentle) gives way for fine lines. The pump packaging is perfect for spritzing the toner all over your face and you don’t have to dig your makeup stash for a cotton pad.

I tend to focus spraying this more on my oily T-zone as the toner has proven time and again in controlling the oil on my T-zone.

Unlike regular toners this doesn’t leave your skin super dry. Instead it leaves the skin soft and glowy and ready for your serum/moisturizer/makeup. I can really tell the difference when I skip usng this, my skin feels rejuvenated when I use this. I love that this toner is natural, organic and cruelty-free like all other products from Plantae!

I often using this as a quick pick-me-up spray during the day and it feels great! I’m only sad that it got over last week 😦

Plantae products never fail to WOW me! You guys should definitely try their products if you’re looking for something gentle yet effective.

You can purchase Plantae products on their website. Also don’t forget to stalk them on their social media accounts!
